Product Description

Indispensable herb for the garden chef, and a wonderful ornamental plant in the xeric border. Mentha piperita cv 'Chocolate Mint' is a wonderfully easy to grow garden herb that has a decadent chocolate-mint fragrance and minty flavor. Use Chocolate Mint for culinary uses such as mixed in with teas, breads, desserts or with fresh fruit such as strawberries. Excellent dried or fresh. Chocolate Mint will readily make itself at home in full sun to partial shade in moist soil. Most gardeners don't have any trouble growing it, but it can get away from you if you are not careful. We recommend growing all mints in a contained area or planting them in a large pot in the ground. All mints perform best when they are harvested or cut back at regular intervals. Remove old woody plants to allow newer, younger plants to fill in. At the end of the growing season cut Spearmint plants back to ground level.
  • Zones 3-9 or houseplant. Mature Size: 18"-24" X 36"
  • Prefers a sunny location inside or out
  • Keep evenly moist. Trim as needed
  • Proper name: Mentha x piperita cv 'Chocolate Mint'

    Chocolate Mint

The coloring for this variety is one of my favorites. The undersides have of young leaves has suck a lovely purple hue to them, and the older leaves are a beautiful purple brown color reminding one of chocolate. The smell has a sharpness to it at first that mellows out to a creamy peppermint patty sent. One of my favorite varieties

All 4 plants that I bought

Posted by Pallavi on Jun 14th 2021

Shipment was prompt and well packaged. But none of them had any plant tags / labels to refer to as a guide or future reference with the full description like you normally get at other nurseries. I normally keep all the tags for references but in these 4 it will be learning by trial & error.

The mint that I got came a little small, but after a few days after potting, it's already outgrowing the pot!
