Dracocephalum (dra-KO-ceph-a-lum), the Blue Dragon Plant. Lots of good bright Blue Violet flowers are held in upright terminal clusters above the dark green thin foliage. Blooming in summer this plant grows 24 inches tall and reaches a width of 12 inches. Should be grown in full Sun were it is hardy in Zones 4-8. The blue snapdragon like flowers on this easy to grow plant are produced in good numbers and do make a nice display. Best performance in poor soils that are well drained, once established drought tolerant. The species is native from Siberia and Northern China.
The lemon scented leaves have been used in eastern Europe to flavor fish dishes instead of lemon balm.
