Product Description

American Elderberry 'Wyldewood' (Sambucus canadensis hybrid) 'Wyldewood' is a new American Elderberry hybrid with high yields and superior fruit production from its immense flower heads that often reach up to 12" across. Elderberry is well known as an ingredient in wines and jams It is also a great source of vitamin C. Planting another variety of Elderberry will greatly increase the yields. Elderberries yield fruits that are highly nutritious. They are an excellent source of vitamins and antioxidants for humans. Wildlife also enjoy the fruits. Research has shown that the berries from the elderberry can strengthen the immune system to fight viruses. The multi-stemmed shrubs, 8 feet tall and 3 feet wide have landscape interest as well. Large creamy white flowers attract butterflies and other nectar loving birds. Plants produce clusters of black fruit that drape each branch. Fall color is outstanding, yellow to red-orange foliage that sparkles the landscape. Zones 3-8 The plant will produce 30 pounds of berries every year; it is the highest yielding variety. The flavor of the berries is sweet with a hint of dry tangy flavor which elderberries are known for. Plants will adapt to any soil type and will product fruits the second year after planting. A hardy, native shrub with an upright, suckering growth habit. Selected for its fruit production. White flowers in mid summer and dark blue to black fruit in late summer. I am happy with my plants. They have already come out with new leaves. Much better service than what some other companies provide. I will definitely order from here again.

Purchased a Wyldewood Elderberry plant. Came in a very timely fashion, packaged very well. I planted it the same day I received it. It's doing very well and looking happy in it's new home. When I plan to buy more plants I will not hesitate to buy them from Hurts Gardens.
