HEUCHERA: Vigorous and large flowered, these varieties make excellent border plants with their nearly evergreen foliage in neat clumps. Bright flowers are held aloft on airy stems in May through July. Can be used in a shady courtyard, pot or as a groundcover under deciduous trees. Benefits from deheading.
A vigorous and bold variety, developing into a sumptuous mound. The foliage opens pinkish violet in spring, becoming more silvery with purple veins; then all is topped with pearl-like pink flowers. In winter the entire plant turns a unique, rich bluish violet. PP 15,085. An American genus with lobed leaves and tiny, bell-shaped flowers on wand-like stems. Determined breeders have turned these perennials into some of the most attractive foliage plants for northern gardens. Heucheras make themselves at home in moist but well-drained, organic-enriched soils. Attractive to hummingbirds, rarely troubled by deer.
