Product Description

Variegated Monstera adansonii or Monstera adansonii variegata is a rare form or clone of Monstera adansonii. Degree of variegation on each plant will vary. We cannot send a specific plant. Unlike the original plant that has green leaves, it has a cream to whitish variegations. But there are forms with yellowish variegation and mint leaves. The other thing you need to know is these variegated forms have lovely smaller juvenile leaves that may have a few holes (fenestrations) and huge highly perforated adult leaves just like the original plant. Last but not least, one challenge we have noted with some of these variegated forms is that some turn almost white. This means they hardly have enough chlorophyll for photosynthesis. If you don’t give them the right conditions, they may die. you want larger leaves, give it a place to climb. A moss pole, burlap-wrapped post, trellis, or bamboo pole will work well. But this is not a must. You can let it cascade on a hanging basket or onto your desktop, shelf, cabinet, and so on. As a plant from the tropics, it needs a warm place. So, grow your variegated Monstera adansonii in a warm place with optimum temperatures of 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This plant can tolerate a slightly lower or higher temperature. However, if it goes too low, it will grow slowly. And by the time your temperature is 50°F (10°C), it will stop growing. It would be best if you also avoided sudden dips or spikes in temperatures and cold drafts. Both these two will stress your plant. Therefore, please don’t put it near air condition or room heating vents, draft windows, fireplaces, radiators, and so on. Monstera adansonii variegata needs high humidity, about 60 to 80%. But it can still tolerate slightly lower to moderate levels. In low humidity, it may not have lush leaves. Also, it may grow slowly. If your home has low humidity, mist your plant several times a week or you can use a pebble tray or buy a humidifier. Measurements are approximate.

Plant Care
How will my plant arrive & do I need to repot?

We ship our plants via USPS, so check your mailbox if it is a smaller item.

To ensure your plant stays healthy and happy, we ship it in its original nursery pot—just as it was growing in our greenhouse. There’s no need to repot right away.

We recommend letting your plant acclimate to its new environment after the journey. Give it a few days in a cozy spot with the right light and water, and let it settle in before making any changes. This helps reduce transplant shock and gives your plant the best start in its new home!

Will my plant look like the pictures online?

Yes! The photos with the white background are actual images of the plants we grow and ship.

Keep in mind:

  • If you’re ordering a plant in a 2.5" pot, it’s a starter plant. That means it will be smaller in size and will need time to establish roots and grow before reaching maturity.
  • All plants are healthy and ready to thrive with a little time and care!
Is my plant in stock?

To see if a specific plant is available, head to our website and use the search bar (look for the magnifying glass in the top right corner).

Type the name of the plant you’re looking for.

Click on the product listing to view the details.

If the plant shows up in the search, it’s available! Under “Currently Available,” you’ll see exactly how many we have in stock.

If the plant doesn’t appear, it’s currently out of stock.

We receive new shipments regularly, so feel free to check back often—your favorite plant might be back sooner than you think!

Why does my perennial look sad?

If you received a perennial during the winter months, it may arrive looking brown, bare, or even lifeless. That’s completely normal—it’s simply dormant, not dead. Many perennials go into a natural resting phase during colder months to conserve energy for the growing season ahead.

What should you do?

Keep the plant in a cool, dry place with some light.

Water lightly every 3 weeks—just enough to keep the soil from completely drying out. Avoid soggy soil or overwatering.

Once warmer weather returns, gradually introduce the plant to sunlight and plant it outdoors after the last chance of frost has passed.

Your plant may look quiet now, but with a little patience, it will bounce back beautifully in spring!

Support & Returns
Can I add to my existing order?

Unfortunately, we’re not able to add items to an order once it’s placed because we don’t keep credit card info for your security.

My plant isn't looking too hot, what do I do?

We stand behind the quality of our plants and want you to be happy!

It’s normal for live plants to show some stress after shipping. We recommend pruning off any damaged foliage to help your plant focus its energy on fresh, healthy growth.

If your plant’s condition is worse than minor shipping stress, please email us at greenhousematt@gmail.com with a photo and your order number. We’ll be happy to replace or refund your purchase.

I need to cancel my order. What should I do?

No problem! Please email us at greenhousematt@gmail.com and include your order number in the message. We’ll be happy to help you with the cancellation process.

Do you offer garden design help?

While we’re happy to share advice and gardening tips, we don’t offer formal garden design services.

If time allows, we’ll gladly suggest plants that work well in your conditions. However, due to the high volume of emails, we can’t provide personalized design consultations for every request.

Purchased this for my wife's birthday and Hirt's sent us a beautiful Monstera Adansonii packaged nicely and healthy. I was worried as the plant had to travel all the way to California....but it was perfect! Thank you Hirts!
