This thyme is one of the best low, creeping ground covers with edible, aromatic, carmine-pink flowers in May to September that will release their spicy fragrance when crushed underfoot. Plant it as a delightful edging plant, tuck it between the cracks of paving stones and walkways, or allow it to spill over the sides of decorative containers and herb baskets. It can also be used as a drought tolerant lawn substitute. Divide in spring or fall by tearing apart the clumps into smaller pieces and replanting. This evergreen thyme thrives in average, well-drained soil. Full sun to part sun, height 2", spread 18-30", hardy in zone 5, tolerates medium foot traffic.
