Product Description

The Serissa genus has only one species (Serissa foetida syn. Serissa japonica), but comes from a huge family of between 4500 and 5000 species. It is an evergreen shrub to 45 cm (18 in) high with oval, deep green, rather thick leaves that have an unpleasant smell if bruised. It is grown for its neat habit, good coverage of branches and long flowering time. It is also valued for its rough, grey trunk which tends to get lighter in colour with age. The Serissa flowers practically all year round, but particularly from spring to fall (autumn). The flowers are funnel-shaped and mostly white in color.

    I ordered 2... One for me and one for my son. Both came well packaged with other plants in my order. The post office accidentally reputed my box a free times so it was 2 days late arriving, and the part time mail lady left it in the sin next to the highway instead of on the back porch as per normal...but even with all that abuse in transit they were still in tact and had moist roots. I was sick with worry that the plants would arrive dead...but these thus sure know how to pack them! If i could give an additional 5 stars just to Hirts packing and shipping department i would. Due to their good care the mistakes by the post office didn't kill my plants. Buy with confidence folks.

    my 5 plants arrived with a big variation in moisture- 3 were very, very dry. I don't know how long shipping took but every plant should be watered before being shipped. Several are actually blooming which is great! I watered immediately, and all seem to be fine but any shipping delays could have been very bad. The plants are beautiful.
