Product Description

Cascade was developed in the USDA breeding program in Oregon and released as a U.S. aroma variety in 1972. Derived from a cross between fuggles and the Russian hop Serebrianker. It is characterized by a dark green elongated cone which contains low amounts of alpha acids. The aroma is of medium strength and very distinct. A pleasant, flowery and spicy, citrus-like. Good for flavor and aroma, but an acceptable bittering hop. Can be used for most any Ales and Lagers. It’s Alpha Acid can be as low as 4% or as high as 7.5%. Most likely the most popular hop in North America New growth matures to lime green by summer, panicles of dangling flowers bloom late summer (Humulus lupulus) Zones 3-9 - A high alpha acid bittering-type hop used for adding body and flavor to all styles of beer. No other vine is faster growing or more effective as an ornamental screen. Plants can grow up to 20 feet in one year when grown in a sunny location and are easily trained on a fence of trellis. Each year they die back to the crown in winter. In late summer the vines bear cone-like flowers that have a fresh, pine-like fragrance. The flowers are used in beer-making. Dark green, deeply lobed foliage is very attractive. Measurements are approximate.
