FERN: A fern is any one of a group of about 12,000 species of plants. Unlike mosses they have xylem and phloem (making them vascular plants). They have stems, leaves, and roots like other vascular plants. Ferns do not have either seeds or flowers (they reproduce via spores). Phlebodium aureum, or Blue Star Fern, originating in South America is less delicate in appearance than many of its contemporaries. The sturdy, elongated, blue-green fronds curl into non-conforming straps, spilling from the plant in a delightfully higgledy-piggledy manner. The perfect undemanding house plant. This fern will tolerate darker conditions making it great for low-light offices, bathrooms, or anywhere else you can think of. They prefer low to moderate light. They prefer higher humidity, so be sure to mist often.
