If you don't have a lot of space to work with, the striking Black Velvet is a great elephant ear variety for you. With its tiny, compact size, you can grow a Black Velvet anywhere. The name is not a misnomer or exaggeration; wait until you feel the soft, velvety leaves for yourself. If your plant doesn't look just like the picture, give it a little time to grow up. Elephant ears' attributes become more defined when they mature. They do not like to dry out or be too wet, keep evenly moist, not wet or dry! Alocasia amazonica will live indefinitely in containers if proper care is given and is an excellent indoor plant!

    Beautiful specimen, arrived well packaged and minimal to no damage. Had a new leaf coming in. The existing leaves have been through some stress, hoping they make it. Overall looks very healthy though

    I am a regular customer at Hirts. I’ve never had a bad shipment until this one. I was very disappointed when I received my plant and it only had 2 small leaves and no new growth in sight. The picture certainly looked way different. The alocasia does appear healthy. I do understand the nature of this plant, unfortunately I was expecting something similar to the advertised plant. This is my first negative experience from hirts, I’ve received many healthy and thriving plants in all of my other shipments.
