Baby Stars are surprisingly hard to find, particularly in American catalogs, yet Baby Stars are one of the easiest and most carefree of all annuals. They form strong, wide-branching wiry stems with whorls of needle-like leaves above which is a continuous parade of small, star-shaped flowers in a delightful range of bright colors. Seeds can be sown directly in odd corners of the garden, and flowering starts 7-8 weeks later. The plants can be cut back, and there will soon be plenty of new flowers. Baby Stars make an excellent filler for mixed container plantings. They are particularly charming when tumbling over the edges of window boxes. They bloom in the summer!
