Tabasco Pepper: 80 days - Small fruit, but fiery hot! This is the pepper that has made Tabasco sauce famous. Green leaf strain that grows best in the South and East. Light yellow-green peppers turn to red and grow on tall plants.
HOT PEPPERS: When Wilbur Scoville first devised a means to test the heat of peppers, his hottest entry then came in at 20,000 units. Habanero and Thai chilies can go as high as 60,000. Compare that to the sweet bell pepper at zero. When hot peppers are consumed, capsaicinoids bind with pain receptors in the mouth and throat that are responsible for sensing heat. Once activated by the capsaicinoids, these receptors send a message to the brain that the person has consumed something hot. The brain responds to the burning sensation by raising the heart rate, increasing perspiration and release of endorphins. Hot peppers should be eaten with caution!

Tabasco pepper plants
Hirt's has fantastic service. I ordered some tabasco pepper plants as for whatever reason they are not at our local nurseries. Hirt's shipped within 48 hours, I got the plants within 72 hours. Each plant was carefully wrapped in bubble wrap, and in a 2X2X4 in plat cell. They are all healthy, well established and well rooted. each was still in very moist soil. I plan to use Hirt's for the bulk of my plants going forward!
