Product Description
Performs well in sun or partial shade. Soils should be moist and well-drained with good fertility. Brilliant orange-red flowers appear in the summer and are a sharp contrast to the bronze foliage. The dark leaves are ovate to lance-shaped. This under-used plant grows upright with a dwarf, clumping habit. A vibrant plant that is perfect for rock gardens or border fronts. A hybrid of Lychnis calcedonica x L. haageana, it is also known as 'Orange Dwarf' or 'Orange Gnome'. Starts blooming in early Spring and continues through early Summer if cut back after initial flush. A cross between plants from Silene and the former Lychnis genus.
Lychnis are old-fashioned, hardy, trouble-free plants. Reliable and long lived. Flowers are attractive to butterflies, and possibly even hummingbirds.
