Product Description

Spathiphyllum the genus name means, literally, "leaf spathe", with spathe defined as "A large bract or pair of bracts sheathing a flower cluster, as a spadix." You're likely to know it as "Peace Lily". Its' widespread interior use is due to its exceptional acclimation to low light conditions. There are approximately 30 different species of Spathiphyllum, some are native to Central and South America. Interestingly, two species are found on the other side of the world, in Malaysia, and one is native to both Costa Rica AND the Philippines. A fascinating plant that has somehow managed to circle the world long before man discovered its beauty. Wherever it is found, it thrives in the deep shade of the humid tropical rainforest understory. The Peace Lily is very different from many plants used today indoors. They let you know quickly when they are dry by a noticeably droop in the foliage. They'll bounce back quickly once watered. The proper time to water them is when the leaves start to droop, just a little. They are one of the best low light house plants! The plant you will receive is growing in a 4" pot with decorative pot cover. The color of the cover may vary.

    Peace Lily

Posted by CLAIRE BRASSE on Oct 13th 2020

Although the review invite was individually per plant, I ordered 10 plants, so....every plant I received was very heathy and ready for repotting. So far they have all survived me. I am super impressed with the quality. I had actually bought 2 Hirt's plants through Walmart, which were shipped by Hirt's, and they were also very healthy. I will buy all future house plants from Hirt's! However, y'all need to help a little on shipping costs. My shipping costs were 1/2 of the price of the plants so it was very expensive. Also, a little care blurb for each plant would have been great. Didn't need it for the Peace Lily or spider plants, but the Banana Croton and the Lemon Surprise had me back on the computer researching lighting, watering, etc so maybe on large orders... Great experience with Hirt's. I will be a repeat customer. (feel free to edit) Claire Brasse order #3426096
