This unique ornamental grass also known as "Monkey Grass" is native to Japan and has short, dark green recurving foliage growing from rhizomes that form a dense soft mat. Dwarf Mondo Grass is similar in appearance to Liriope. The spikes of the lavender flowers are borne in the tufts of the leaves and so may be partially hidden. This cultivar is a slow growing dwarf reaching only 3-6" tall but can spread to 12" if planted in the ground. Often potted by itself as an accent plant for bonsai or used as a live ground cover for a larger bonsai.
