Product Description

HONEYSUCKLE: The genus Lonicera contains more than 200 species worldwide and is distributed in temperate and subtropical regions of North America, Europe, North Africa, and Asia. Most of the species are small trees or shrubs. Honeysuckle is cultivated in private gardens and in cities as an ornamental because of its large, fragrant flowers and brilliant red fruits. A handsome vine with beautiful red buds that open to expose yellow petals. Will continue to bloom from late spring through the summer as it grows. Grows 15 to 20 feet high. Hardy in zones 5-9. Grows in sun, part shade, or shade. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.

    I have admired my neighbor's honeysuckle for a couple years now and couldn't find the right variety in the local stores. I was very excited to find this on Hirt's website. The plant arrived very healthy. I am giving it a couple weeks in our greenhouse so it can acclimate to our area. I am also taking my time to find the perfect spot since I know these get rather large and I want to give it plenty of room to stretch out. I am counting on this to be a main source of nectar for our many resident hummers.

    very impressed with the packaging, the timely delivery and the plant, they look healthy even have a few leaves on them. And for those reasons I will be coming back in fact I just placed another order and cancelled an order that I ordered on 4/25 from another vendor
