Product Description

During late spring, the Flowering Nodding Onion produces many heads of nodding florets in an exquisite amethyst-purple shade. As these fade, a very decorative seed head is revealed. An excellent hardy perennial in zones 5-9. From a family of more than 700 species mostly originating from dry and mountainous regions in the northern hemisphere, Alliums are closely related to the onion. This can be detected by their characteristic, pungent aroma. Popular in Victorian times, these ornamental onions are surprisingly at home in the flower border.
