Product Description

Golden Brush (Burbidgea scheizocheila) A dwarf ginger with brilliant color and reliable performance! Bright orange cones of blooms emerge from the upright stems with individual flowers opening successively over a period of two weeks or more. An intermittent bloomer throughout the year, with its two heavy blooming periods occurring in summer and winter. We especially like this ginger for winter color around the holidays as it consistently brings a heavy burst of bloom during the shortest days of the year. Mature plants stay under 2' in height and perform well under varying light conditions. Grow indoors, out, or on the patio. Grow indoors or out. Burbidgea schizocheila is a dwarf ginger that is hard to find, but well worth it. Intermittently throughout the year, bright golden-orange cones will appear above the glossy dark green, maroon-backed leaves. Individual flowers will open and last for a period of about two weeks during each bloom cycle. Has a very upright growth habit. An excellent indoor plant, it should be kept out of direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves, and should be kept in a container even outdoors, as they are very cold-tender and must be brought inside in the fall. When repotting, take care that only the roots are buried in the soil or potting medium, as it is a bit of an epiphyte (air plant) and the rhizome must remain above ground level.
  • Hardy in zones 8-11, Patio, Indoors
  • All plant parts emit a spicy fragrance
  • Easy to grow
  • It prefers very bright, indirect light and should be keep evenly moist not wet or dry
  • Immediate shipping in 6" pot
