Product Description

QUINCE: Flowering quince (Chaenomeles speciosa or Japonica) is an old-fashioned deciduous shrub that American farmers of the 1800s often grew on their homesteads for its beauty and sometimes for a little bit of fruit. It's a bit of a mystery why farmers chose to grow this plant, as it does not produce large amounts of quality fruit--it is thought perhaps they simply loved the beauty of its early spring flowers. (Quince) Double Take™ Orange Storm, A double take is what you’ll do when you see this Quince that has flowers that look like a Camellia. The Double Take series gives Quince a complete makeover starting with a spectacular display of big, double flowers in early spring. The flower color is a bold Orange. Look a while longer and you’ll also notice that Double Take is without thorns or fruit, and extremely drought tolerant. Double Take™ Orange Storm is excellent for hedging, mass planting and even flower arranging. A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrub. The plant you will receive is growing in a 4" pot.

    Great first experience with Hirts!

Posted by Ann on Jun 2nd 2021

Plant arrived right on time. Packaging was perfect! Soil was moist and not one speck had escaped the pot. Box size was exactly right, and the extra space was filled with just the right amount of bubble wrap. I am learning about bonsai, and focusing on the smaller sizes of trees. This plant size is exactly what I was hoping for, and more developed than I'd anticipated. She didn't seem to even notice being repotted and is pushing new growth like a champ. All of that AND the both the price of the plant and the shipping costs were absolutely reasonable. I'm so glad to have found Hirts. Definitely will be my first stop when I'm looking for stock for bonsai from now on.

The plant was a little small than I was hoping, but it looks very healthy. I planted right away and hope they grow fast. Thank.
