Thyme-scented plant with purple-spotted tubular yellow flowers. One of the best sources of thymol, an immune stimulant, germicide and bactericide. Historically used for upset stomachs, colds, diarrhea, neuralgia and kidney disease. Do not use during pregnancy. Direct seed in early spring or start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost. Prefers dry, sandy, alkaline soil. Harvest leaves for drying when plant is in full flower.
