Product Description

This is the World Record Hottest Chili, Carolina Reaper pepper. It is beautiful with a bright red rough surface and a long stinger. But don’t let looks fool you! This pepper got its name for a reason. Be very, very careful using this pepper. Those who don’t fear the Reaper are fools. Scoville: 1.474 million. The Carolina Reaper is a hybrid chili pepper of the Capsicum chinense species, originally called the "HP22B", bred by cultivator Ed Currie. The Carolina Reaper was rated as the world's hottest chili pepper by Guinness World Records according to 2012 tests, averaging 1,569,300 SHU on the Scoville scale with peak levels of over 2,200,000 SHU. The previous record-holder was the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. The cost to Currie to obtain the evidence to claim the Guinness record was $12,000.

    Exceeded expectations

First time gardening. Bought 10 of these because... Well... First time gardening. I was sure some were going to die by my hands. Thought these would arrive in mail as a stem maybe a inch or two tall with a couple of leaves. When they did arrive, I was very pleasantly surprised. They arrived by mail 3 days after ordering and they were nice, dark green, strong, and very leafy. Really happy Hirts included a pamphlet about "hardening" the seedlings. Otherwise I definitely would had just repotted them and stuck them in direct sunlight. So far they're doing great. Looks like I'm going to have all 10/10 survive at this point. Hopefully get some nice reapers and hopefully it survives winter indoors.

    Healthy Plants

2 of 3 plants came to me looking good and healthy. Unfortunately, the 3rd had a blemish on the main stem and it doesn't appear that it will survive. This has been the only questionable plant in the multiple orders I made.
