Product Description

Not only is it cold-hardy to -40 degrees F with no loss of flowering ability, it also blooms 3 times each summer, assuring you of fragrant flowers for months. Vigorous, quick-growing, and tirelessly floriferous, this Wisteria is certain to become a classic for the American garden. Immediate shipping 4" Pot, not in bloom. Dormant shipping in winter/early spring. The lilac-blue flowers are large, showy, and held in foot-long racemes like enormous clusters of grapes. The fragrance is sweet, intense, and very addictive -- be sure to plant 'Blue Moon' where it can share its scent with garden visitors and even indoors through open windows and doors! The first flush of bloom is in early summer, with a brief rest before the second and then third repeats. Imagine all the flowers you will have for vases as well as garden enjoyment! But its tremendous bloom strength is only one of 'Blue Moon's attributes. It's also fully hardy, not only able to withstand severe winters but to bloom unimpaired afterwards. Bred in Minnesota by Harvey and Brigitte Buchite, it has weathered -40 degrees F without damage. At last, a Wisteria that thrives even in the far north! Wisteria Macrostachya 'Blue Moon'. Blue Moon Wisteria is a cultivar of Kentucky wisteria, native to the USA. This long-lived flowering vine loves the sunshine and can bloom several times during the spring and summer. Blue Moon wisteria can survive winters as cold as -40°F (-40°C), attracts pollinators to the garden, and is easy to grow in the home landscape. 'Blue Moon' is a vigorous, quick-growing vine, reaching 25 feet long within just a few years. It needs no pruning, and should only be trimmed back if necessary after the final flowering. Let it ramble across pergolas, over arches, and up trellises and other ultra-sturdy supports, dangling its huge blooms along the way. A fully blooming 'Blue Moon' is a breathtaking sight! Give this vine as much sunlight as possible for best flowering. It flourishes in moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost and other organics. Zones 4-9. Plant Care
How will my plant arrive & do I need to repot?

We ship our plants via USPS, so check your mailbox if it is a smaller item.

To ensure your plant stays healthy and happy, we ship it in its original nursery pot—just as it was growing in our greenhouse. There’s no need to repot right away.

We recommend letting your plant acclimate to its new environment after the journey. Give it a few days in a cozy spot with the right light and water, and let it settle in before making any changes. This helps reduce transplant shock and gives your plant the best start in its new home!

Will my plant look like the pictures online?

Yes! The photos with the white background are actual images of the plants we grow and ship.

Keep in mind:

  • If you’re ordering a plant in a 2.5" pot, it’s a starter plant. That means it will be smaller in size and will need time to establish roots and grow before reaching maturity.
  • All plants are healthy and ready to thrive with a little time and care!
Is my plant in stock?

To see if a specific plant is available, head to our website and use the search bar (look for the magnifying glass in the top right corner).

Type the name of the plant you’re looking for.

Click on the product listing to view the details.

If the plant shows up in the search, it’s available! Under “Currently Available,” you’ll see exactly how many we have in stock.

If the plant doesn’t appear, it’s currently out of stock.

We receive new shipments regularly, so feel free to check back often—your favorite plant might be back sooner than you think!

Why does my perennial look sad?

If you received a perennial during the winter months, it may arrive looking brown, bare, or even lifeless. That’s completely normal—it’s simply dormant, not dead. Many perennials go into a natural resting phase during colder months to conserve energy for the growing season ahead.

What should you do?

Keep the plant in a cool, dry place with some light.

Water lightly every 3 weeks—just enough to keep the soil from completely drying out. Avoid soggy soil or overwatering.

Once warmer weather returns, gradually introduce the plant to sunlight and plant it outdoors after the last chance of frost has passed.

Your plant may look quiet now, but with a little patience, it will bounce back beautifully in spring!

Support & Returns
Can I add to my existing order?

Unfortunately, we’re not able to add items to an order once it’s placed because we don’t keep credit card info for your security.

My plant isn't looking too hot, what do I do?

We stand behind the quality of our plants and want you to be happy!

It’s normal for live plants to show some stress after shipping. We recommend pruning off any damaged foliage to help your plant focus its energy on fresh, healthy growth.

If your plant’s condition is worse than minor shipping stress, please email us at greenhousematt@gmail.com with a photo and your order number. We’ll be happy to replace or refund your purchase.

I need to cancel my order. What should I do?

No problem! Please email us at greenhousematt@gmail.com and include your order number in the message. We’ll be happy to help you with the cancellation process.

Do you offer garden design help?

While we’re happy to share advice and gardening tips, we don’t offer formal garden design services.

If time allows, we’ll gladly suggest plants that work well in your conditions. However, due to the high volume of emails, we can’t provide personalized design consultations for every request.

    Wow!

Posted by Jennifer Dacy on Mar 14th 2021

Arrived as a small stick in a little (2.5 inch pot) 5 days after ordered. After our crazy winter storm I’m a bit behind but this little powerhouse has been thriving and has 4-5 inch shoots x4.
