Proper name: Eruca sativa. Originally from Europe, this spicy salad plant has been grown for over a century. It has a significant amount of protein and a unique flavor. Deeply cut, 3-6 in. arrow-shaped leaves and white and tan flowers are all edible. Arugula can be planted early in season, prefers cold weather, and is extremely cold hardy. Annual.
