Product Description

We cannot ship citrus to; American Samoa, Arizona, California, Florida, Guam, Hawaii, Louisiana, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, Texas, Virgin Islands as per USDA. Regulations. A single mutation in a Selecta orange tree planted on the grounds of a monastery near Bahia, Brazil, probably yielded the first navel orange between 1810 and 1820. Navel oranges were introduced in Australia in 1824 and in Florida in 1835. In 1870, twelve cuttings of the original tree were transplanted to Riverside, California, where the fruit became known as "Washington" The fruit is large; seedless, round and easily peeled with a pebbled rind. Today, navel oranges continue to be propagated through cutting and grafting. This does not allow for the usual selective breeding methodologies, and so all navel oranges can be considered fruits from that single, nearly two-hundred-year-old tree: they have exactly the same genetic make-up as the original tree and are, therefore, clones.

Arrived quickly and well-packaged. Tree about 1' tall, supple and green with tiny baby oranges already developing! Perfect in every way.

The tree arrived very securely packaged and despite being held up in the post office overnight, the tree was not damaged. The leaves are very green and vibrant and the root system was very good. The tree is about 1 and a 1/4 feet high. I immediately transplanted it into a 12 inch pot, added some organic earthworm castings to the soil, and gave it a good watering. The plant is doing very well in a sun room under a grow light for now. I am very pleased with this purchase and will definitely order more plants from this company.
