This Double Late variety is unique, opening reddish-orange and then acquiring more and more golden streaks, until the tips and many of the petals are bright gold with an orange wash! You're going to want to enjoy it in both garden and vase, so order a few extra bulbs and end Tulip season with a flourish like none other! Sunlover is a double-flowred variety with a big bowl shade upon opening. The tips of each large, rounded petal point straight up, in the classic Tulip look pictured in children's drawings. Then, as the bloom matures, it opens up more fully, revealing additional layer upon layer of smaller petals within. At full maturity, it is spread wide with large outer petals banking a big, frilly center. If you didn't know better, you'd think you had a Peony in the garden! This tulip reaches 16 to 18 inches tall, and can spread 12 inches wide with its large, paddle-shaped matte green leaves. But for a stunning impact, plant the bulbs a bit closer together than that -- 6 inches apart is ideal. You'll create a color wash so intense, you'll want to wear sunglasses in the garden! Sunlover flowers in late spring in most climates, remaining on its thick, sturdy stems past the bloomtime of most other tulips in the garden. Great for cutting, it also combines nicely with other spring bloomers in the sunny bed or border. Be sure to make it part of your spring garden by planting this season.
