Product Description

Perennial in USDA zones 4-9. A long-lived penstemon, Rocky Mountain Blue enhances the garden for twelve months of the year. Its exquisite blue-violet flower spikes bloom for about a month in early summer, followed by satiny brown teardrop seedpods. In winter, the plants’ evergreen basal rosettes turn from green to reddish purple. An easy to grow, very hardy and drought tolerant choice for wildflower plantings and formal garden borders. Deer resistant.

Great addition to my butterfly garden

This native penstemon grows 2-3'tall, making it a standout in the pollinator garden. For gardeners who like the more rare BLUE flower, this one is remarkable. It makes a fine cut flower. This is perennial in USDA zone 4-9 but, since I live in coastal Texas, I can only hope this Rocky Mountain Blue penstemon will hold up against the humidity here. This flower is hardy and easy to grow. I will be planting with school children, so this seems an excellent choice.
