The most exciting new shade perennial from Japan in years. It is the Japanese counterpart to our native A. racemosa, or spikenard. This is a perennial that dies to the ground each year. The screaming yellow foliage is beautiful from spring to fall. In morning sun to light shade it holds the yellow color, turning to chartreuse in heavier shade. Easy in any good soil but not drought-tolerant.
With leaves that are as big and bold as the sun, this beautiful gold form of Aralia makes an outstanding accent in the shade or part shade. Fast growing and deciduous. Small clusters of white, satellite-like flowers in late summer followed by decorative purple berries. Containers or landscape.
