BUDDLEIA: Graceful gray-green foliage arches with flowers from summer into fall. The common name aptly describes this garden beauty. It does not wake up until late spring, but it’s worth the wait! Flowers form on current growth. Should be cut back to 12-18” each spring. Will quickly grow backwith many flowering canes. The fragrant, arching clusters of Butterfly Bush are irresistible to hummingbirds and butterflies. Really a shrub, plants are best treated like perennials and pruned back hard each spring, to maintain a compact, bushy habit. The HUMDINGER™ series blooms a few weeks earlier and is short in stature. This selection is extremely floriferous with masses of long wands of orchid-purple flowers over medium green foliage. This collection features five new varieties of Butterfly Bush, each blooming a few weeks earlier than the members of the MONARCH® Collection. In addition to blooming starting in midsummer, each of these varieties has a compact habit and shorter stature.
