This beautiful purple basil grows vigorously, forming a small bush when fully mature. The leaves have a fine, sweet, anise-like fragrance and flavor. Sow 2 seeds per inch in garden when danger of frost has passed or start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost date. Requires warm conditions for germination and growth. Susceptible to cold soil and frosts. Fertilize soil well with mature compost. Pinch off flowers to keep productive. Harvest leaves throughout season and the entire plant before the first frost. Can be used fresh, dried, or frozen.
