Product Description
Native of Japan and China and introduced into cultivation in 1865, this sturdy, deciduous vine will eventually grow to 25 feet or higher. Clusters of lacy white blooms and smooth glossy foliage make a rich-looking accent in your garden. Will need a sturdy structure such as a stone wall or strong fence to climb on from which it will eventually branch out to about 3-6 feet providing a deep garden texture that most climbers don't provide. Fall foliage will turn a golden yellow and even the reddish-brown bark peels and provides some winter interest and texture. Prune in late winter or very early spring to maintain good shape. Moist, well-drained soils. Fertilize in spring. Hardy in zone 4-8. The Hydrangea vine will grow in sun or shade and is considered one of the best vines for the shade!
