Note the wonderful Kent cherry color with a top flowering habit. This nasturtium is prepared to exist on practically nothing while displaying dozens and dozens of shining flowers for weeks on end. Grows 12 inches high.
If we take the word 'Nasturtium' apart, we have two Latin words which together mean 'to twist the nose.' Obviously, the nose-twisting comes from that warm, tantalizing pungency which the entire plant possesses. It was always featured in old-time kitchen gardens. Both flowers and leaves were salad-fare, and its round green seed pods were pickled to be used as capers.
So let us bring our nasturtiums out of their flower-garden banishment and promote them to the ranks of the kitchen guard, where they will work wonders for us.
