The Carolina Reaper is a hybrid chili pepper of the Capsicum chinense species, originally called the "HP22B", bred by cultivator Ed Currie. The Carolina Reaper was rated as the world's hottest chili pepper by Guinness World Records according to 2012 tests, averaging 1,569,300 SHU on the Scoville scale with peak levels of over 2,200,000 SHU. The previous record-holder was the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. The cost to Currie to obtain the evidence to claim the Guinness record was $12,000.

    I ordered the Carolina Reaper plants. They arrived very quickly packaged well and in good shape. We are currently going through a cray cold spell down to 34 degrees and we have had to bring them inside to the basement . I am hoping they survive. If not it’s certainly not because of poor quality just this freak weather! I would definitely recommend Hirt’s if you are looking for a reliable company and a good product and may I add very good prices as well. Thanks Hirts!

    As in prior years, I am pleased with my order!! Erica did a gr8 job packing them, they arrived healthy and happy. I did think they were a little small and fragile and will need more hardening than i had anticipated. Will definitely reorder when the time comes.

    I wasnt expecting them to be a foot tall already these are awesome! Very good packaging,had a couple broken leaves but all plants were in tact. Deffinantly going to order again from you guys.
