Product Description

Habanero Pepper: The famous 10-alarm pepper from the Caribbean. The legendary hottest of all peppers, its name means "from Havana." Habanero and its kin long ago migrated from the Caribbean Islands to Central America where they remain extremely popular today. A close relative of the Jamaican Scotch Bonnet, the short, wrinkled, green fruits (1-1/2" long by 1" wide) turn orange. To complement its searing heat, Habanero has a delicious, pungent, smoky quality unlike any other pepper; many people find its flavor and aroma irresistible in sauces and salsas. Space plants 18-24" apart. Grow in full sun. Grown and shipped from Ohio, USA HOT PEPPERS: When Wilbur Scoville first devised a means to test the heat of peppers, his hottest entry then came in at 20,000 units. Habanero and Thai chilies can go as high as 60,000. Compare that to the sweet bell pepper at zero. When hot peppers are consumed, capsaicinoids bind with pain receptors in the mouth and throat that are responsible for sensing heat. Once activated by the capsaicinoids, these receptors send a message to the brain that the person has consumed something hot. The brain responds to the burning sensation by raising the heart rate, increasing perspiration and release of endorphins. Hot peppers should be eaten with caution!

    Typical seedling

Packaged nicely, was expecting a little more to the plant however. It’s very small and sad looking. It seems it would be easier and cheaper to just grow myself.

I have only had the plants a little over a week. So far all looks good. We will have to update later when the plants start producing peppers.
