Dyckias are a succulent type bromeliad native to Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay. They prefer a sunny location and should be watered only when dry. They readily form offsets (pups) and will grow into a neat colony with age. They are excellent for house plants, open terrariums or fairy gardens.
Long, succulent, burgundy leaves that deepen in colour in full sun. Flowers in spring on spikes with orange blooms. They are drought tolerant but thrive on frequent watering during the active growing season. Keep plants on the dry side during cold weather.
