PAPAVER: Delicate blossoms of Poppies have enchanted us for generations. Large paper-thin petals form a bowl around their ornamental centers. The blossoms are a favorite for butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. Sunlight makes their translucent petals positively glow with color. Oriental Poppy 'Brilliant Scarlet''. This scarlet-orange flower has been made famous by New Mexico artist Georgia O Keeffe s beautiful paintings from the 1930s. And no wonder: spring in Santa Fe brings with it drifts of Oriental Poppies blooming all over town. Papaver Hybrids. This is a fine selection of the most outstanding new hybrid Oriental Poppy varieties. The flowers are huge and brightly colored with velvety fringed and frilled petals. They are fully double with bold markings and designs. These Hybrid Poppies bloom in May and June each year on vigorous plants about 3 ft tall...and they are truly spectacular.
