Product Description

Besides being a staple for the vegetable garden, Sweet Potatoes make an excellent indoor plant. Grow in a sunny window and keep evenly moist, not wet or dry. Trim as needed. Developed at Louisiana State University in 1987, this variety may be the world’s most popular sweet potato. It is favored for high yields of uniform, reddish-purple potatoes with tasty, deep-orange flesh that keeps well in storage. It seems to have fewer problems with white grubs than some varieties and also resists cracking. Folks in Louisiana are proud of their sweet potatoes and after tasting this one, you’ll know why. Make sure that plants get plenty of sun to develop the maximum flavor and sweetness. Prized for cold-tolerance, productivity. 2.5 times yield of standard varieties. High Vitamin A content. Thrives in both North and South. Set plants out 1-2 weeks after danger of frost is past. Soil temperature should be 60 degrees F. Mound soil over row as plants grow until the ridge is 8-15 inches high. Fertilize before planting and 3-4 weeks after. Cultivate to keep vines from rooting where they touch the ground. Harvest is determined by root size, sweet potatoes do not ripen; harvest immediately if nipped by frost in fall. Spacing: 12-15 inches between plants, 3-4 feet apart Sun/Shade: Sun Yield: 100 lbs/100 foot row Fruit: Deep orange, moist, tasty flesh; deep red skin
